The History of Wensel's

John Wensel, founder and President of Wensel's Truck and Car Repair, learned the business from the ground up. Starting as a truck driver and mechanic for a local trucking company, John later joined his father Russ Wensel in developing a thriving car and truck maintenance business in Spring City, PA. Subsequently John moved on to manage all fleet operations for a major Pennsylvania based food distributor. In 2005, drawing on the key customer and vendor contacts formed over two careers in heavy duty vehicle operations, John formed a team that established Wensel's Truck and Car Repair. Located at the same location as the repair business built by Russ Wensel, this new venture provides a thread of continuity between two generations of Wensel entrepreneurs. Built on the principle that, the key to success lies in unlocking the potential of every individual, Wensel's Truck and Car Repair grew quickly in both size and stature. Keying off of the achievements of the Spring City operation a second location was opened in West Chester, PA in 2007. Wensel’s Truck and Trailer has quickly become a major player in the greater West Chester market contributing to the organization’s growth and ability to service clients throughout the region.

President & CEO

have over twenty-four (25) years of experience in the truck, trailer, and passenger vehicle repairs and service industry.  I am the 3rd generation involved in the trucking industry, learning to drive tractor-trailer at the age of 16.  I learned the trade from my family, but decided to go to school for professional training.  After graduating from automotive/diesel school, I decided to work in the industry working at a refrigerated trucking company.  I worked 60 to 70 hours a week learning how to repair every aspect of a truck and trailer along with driving truck at night and the weekends to help out.  I learned the trucking and repair business from the ground up and I really enjoy being part of the trucking industry.  I have been involved both at the local and national levels since 1999.  I believe that my experience has given me an edge in the truck repair/service industry.

I have been in the automotive and truck industry for over thirty (31) years.  Throughout most of my career in vehicle maintenance, I have been the lead mechanic or shop foreman. I previously was the Fleet Manager of a 300+ truck/trailer fleet, in charge of all maintenance and repairs.  I also have had experience working with and repairing heavy construction equipment, lowboy trailer and over sized loads.  I understand the use of oil sampling to aid in the diagnosis of current and possible future engine problems.  I participated in testing programs with Caterpillar truck engines in their C-9 and C-7 test programs, along with testing of different emission control devices including catalytic converters and HUEI pumps.  I am currently active in TMC, which is the Technology and Maintenance Council of the American Trucking Association.  I attend seminars and study groups on trucking industry issues, which showcase new industry innovations, and products, which gives me the opportunity to stay on top of the industry with key contacts from many OEM manufacturers.  I believe this experience can be used to help benefit our every day operations, and ultimately our customers.
